I go to Eton Burke in Hazel Grove, and if he moved then I would go with him,  I did follow him from Wilmslow. 

If you need a patient sympathetic dentist then he is the best person to go to . ( in my opinion)

I also have a mouth full of fillings that I had in my "yoof" by various dentists, and since I have been with him,( over 12 years now)  I have had very little treatment, I never feel like Im getting ripped off, he only does what he has to do because he knows Im a nervous patient

I am currently an NHS patient, but I do believe there is a waiting list for him on NHS  unless you go private

I also had a drill happy horrible scary dentist when i was a kid and also have a problem with the general dental anaesthetic they use ( it doesnt work!!) which has made me a complete dental phobic!!

I go to a practice in Macc... manly cos she was a school friend of mine but also cos she deals with a lot of nervous patients and I couldnt find one in Marple when i needed one so..

Theres a NHS dentists in romiley just down from Birch vale drive towads romiley .been going there from when i was sixteen , now 67 this year . had a few changes since then of course .

how can some dentists justify the prices they charge i know one in Marple that charges 78 pounds for a check up and a quick polish     the person  only had 6 of her own teeth and was a pensioner   and then charges 25 pounds a year in case you need emergency  treatment out of hours  apparently they can charge what they want

Thanks all. Mrs NBT is currently with a private dentist but the charges are higher than Alison is paying, and the work he wants to do seems rather excessive, and he doesn't seem to have a very sympathetic attitude - I would like to find somewhere better for Mrs NBT as she really doesn't like the dentists but realises she has to go.

Any more views on these or other nearby dentists are welcome

Good luck with the helpline - they were useless when I contacted them about NHS dentists - they basically said if my teeth fell out I would be able to get an emergency appointment, but they couldn't help me to find an NHS dentist for ongoing checking etc.

I am private now with my old NHS dentist Neil McGrogan - it goes against my principles a bit, but he is good, and has kept the prices reasonable (£10.50 a month for me, includes various stuff), and after speaking to the NHS helpline I realised that I really didn't have that much choice.

We use the practice in High Lane (opp. Dog & Partridge) - more than happy with them, I did notice last week when I was there that they are still taking on NHS patients.  Might be worth a phone call?

We go to the chap in Marple Bridge and he seems fine.  We are NHS patients, but I don't know whether he is accepting new ones.  Just be prepared to be cross-examined about your diet and lifestyle.

We have been quite satisfied with the one opposite the swimming pool - his name is Neil McGrogan.  No NHS any longer, but a reasonable private plan. Very friendly and helpful staff

I am aware of 4 dental practices in Marple and one in Marple Bridge. Does anyone have any opinions / experiences to share on any of them? Mrs NBT is not very good with dentists having had a drill-happy dentist in her youth when dentists were paid by the filling, so we need to find her a nice sympathetic local dentist who will work with her (and not charge us through the nose, hopefully!)
