I used to have chickens many years ago...we got them from a farmers market and there were plenty of battery hens available. Can't remember the name of the market though, sorry  :(

Bowlers on Marple Rd, Offerton (before Wright's Arms) were the best place for sacks of bulk feed when we had Doves. I would imagine they do chicken feed too.

Does anybody on here keep chickens?

The good lady has an idea to feed the local foxes... OK, she says eduate the sprogs and hopefully get a few omelettes in the process, but I know what she means. So, does anyone sell ex-battery hens locally, or what other chook suppliers are around? And does anyone have any recommendations for good value suppliers of mixed corn and Layers Pellets to fatten them up for Basil? Again local if possible.

Finally, any other tips before I knock up a shelter/run?
