I'll vote for the Chocolate Box on Stockport Road. Had many a visit to the dentist after visits to that shop! ;D Does anyone remember the shops that used to be at the bottom end of Buxton Lane? There was a grocers/butchers, ran by a family called the Frisbys at the end. There was also a hairdressers and a Mace, which became Spar then a bedding shop. There's only the one left now which is Tommo's newsagents. I'd love to see some pictures of these shops were all talking about on the time tour!  ;)

The Copper Kettle was on Stockport Road opposite the entrance to the park on the corner of Queen Street. Now a Chinese Takeaway.  Ray

Does anyone remember Pickfords, the Deli in Marple Bridge?  I was not born there but had always grown up with a local Deli, so Pickfords was a welcome place for my Parents and us children to buy a wider variety of foods that were not available either locally then when we first moved to the Bridge.

I also vote for "The Chocolate Box". I loved going in there to spend my pocket money. I also liked Sid Procter's. which was the most disorganised-looking shop in Marple. It was an absolute glory hole but it was great going in there as a kid and looking at some of the enormous shoes he kept, as he speciaised in shoes for men with large feet! There are some photos of Side in his shop on the Marple Time Tour pages.

Going back a bit I miss the sweet shop on Stockport Rd near the post office (I thought that was called the Chocolate Box?) The walls were lined with jars and we used to go in after swimming club to get 2oz sweets.

As Marple, Marple Bridge, Mellor have lost shops/businesses over the years, which do you most miss?

Me, Lovin' Givin' in Marple Bridge, so what's yours?
