Find and fix crews fix street lighting
« Reply #1 on: March 26, 2009, 10:01:27 AM »
Stockport Council has been working hard to make significant improvements to street lighting repairs within the borough, reducing the average repair time on faulty lamps from 7 days to under 4 days.

he improvements include the ‘Find and Fix’ street lighting team who complement the existing inspection regime, by working in the evenings scouring the road network to find faults and fix problems on the spot.

Working between 7.00pm and 10.00pm, the rapid response team has made over 2,000 repairs to faulty street lights within the area since last September. This provides an immediate fix to problems which otherwise would be logged and repaired within the Council’s target of 5 working days.

Councillor David White, Executive Member for Transportation, said: “Keeping our streets well lit is a top priority and we are always aiming to improve our service and deliver better lighting for the people who live, work and visit the borough.

“Good lighting helps to make people feel safe and we want our streets to be more accessible and friendly. The 'Find and Fix' crews are just one of a number of initiatives which will help us to better maintain our street lights and respond quicker to faults.”

Residents can report a faulty street light by contacting Streetscene on 0845 833 4444 or by emailing streetscene@stockport.gov.uk.
