The Virtual Time Tour of Marple

The Virtual Tour has been updated this morning with some photos taken at last weekend's opening of the Mellor Mill Wheel Pit by Bill Beard and Arthur Procter, plus some from Arthur of the ongoing works at Marple Station.

Also four vintage gems provided by Heather Plevin (nee Hines), who is David Myers' auntie, have been added. Heather lived at Flood Gates Cottage between 1939 and 1954 and can be seen rowing her elder brothers on Roman Lakes in one of the photos.

A mixed bag of photos from a Marple Local History Society Archives folder entitled "Sport and Recreation" have been added to the Virtual Tour this morning. Mostly sports teams but a couple of carnival / parade ones too.

Another of the Marple Local History Society videos featuring local people talking about their memories has been uploaded to the Virtual Tour. This one is of Trixie Gough, who was born in 1914 and lived in the cottages next to the Jolly Sailor. She is talking to Gordon Mills in 2004 as he filmed her.

The 37 minute long VHS video has been converted to digital format and uploaded in four segments to make it easier for visitors to view without having to start at the beginning every time.

A number of photos provided by Tom Lord of his family (Hall and Kirk) who lived at Stone Row, Townley Terrace, Brindley Avenue and Suttons Lane have been added to the Virtual Tour this morning.
