We completed our first task day of 2011 yesterday (forgot to publicise it here) and the next task day in Memorial Park is on Saturday 26th February. We'd be delighted if you can come along for however long you can between 10 am and 1 pm.

Stout footwear and suitable clothing should be worn and bring your own gardening gloves if you have them.

Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

For details of previous task days see http://www.marplememorialpark.org.uk/task-days.html

The next task day in Memorial Park is on Saturday 30th October, when amongst other things the Beaver Scouts will be planting 1,000 purple crocuses provided by New Mills, Marple and District Rotary to  highlight Polio Vacination of children in India (who are given a purple "spot" mark when they've been done). Weather permitting we will continue to paint the Bowling Green buildings too.

We'd be delighted if you can come along for however long you can between 10 am and 1 pm. Stout footwear and suitable clothing should be worn and bring your own gardening gloves if you have them.

Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Brrrrrrrr, it was cold and wet today but the Friends of the Park and a couple of Marple Hall pupils still braved the elements for a few hours to do some very soggy weeding. See the Friends web site for more details: www.marplememorialpark.org.uk/tasks.htm

Plenty of work done near to the cinema during today's task day. See the Friends web site for more details: www.marplememorialpark.org.uk/tasks.htm

It was great fun to spot the new additions to the Breathing Places area - well done whoever did this but the poor little fellas really need some hats to keep the rain off!

Lots and lots to do in the park and the next task day will be held on Saturday 27 March 2010 between 10am and 1pm. We'd be delighted if you could come along for however long you can between these times. Stout footwear and suitable clothing should be worn and bring your own gardening gloves if you have them.

All tools will be provided - in fact we should have brand new tools as we recently won a grant for nearly £500 worth and are now waiting for delivery!

Friends of Marple Memorial Park have had another good year but now it's time to get ready for the next!

Despite our successes in the park we could still use a lot more help and if you can spare an hour or two it would be brilliant. All tools will be provided, in fact we've just received a grant award to buy £470 worth of new tools, so next year our shears will actually cut!

Each Task Day is held on the last Saturday of the month (except December) between 10am and 1pm and we’d be delighted if you could come along for however long you can between these times.

Stout footwear and suitable clothing should be worn and bring your own gardening gloves if you have them.

Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Here's a calendar of Task Days throughout next year:

Saturday 30 January
Saturday 27 February
Saturday 27 March
Saturday 24 April
Saturday 29 May
Saturday 26 June
Saturday 31 July
Saturday 28 August
Saturday 25 September 18 September
Saturday 30 October
Saturday 27 November

We plan to rub-down and re-paint the Coronation Bench and also transplant as many of the Polyathas in the ornamental beds as we can before the summer bedding goes in.

Stout footwear and suitable clothing should be worn and bring your own gardening gloves if you have them. All tools will be provided.
