I agree, the chippy opposite Goyt Mill just near the humpback bridge is the best I've found in Marple.

i remember her as i used to work for her. i also used to work for the "new" owners. and i can vouch for the chips not being frozen as i used to do them. he will do your fish lightly battered and crispy if you like it like that. by the way peters also old enough to remember her cos if memory serves me right i used to serve him. The Goyt chippy is indeed very good - however, I have to say that the gravy, whilst being very nice, is nothing like it used to be.

I remember the old black haired woman serving that thick, dark, tar like gravy which was just delicious.

Surely someone else remembers this.. I have never tasted gravy like it!

Hi, in my opinion the best chips are from Derby Way off Market Street and the best gravy is from Goyt chippy, it's not changed since I was a lad! Fish... not really sure on that one though! '<img'>

We have a subject like this before, and most people said Hawk Green Chippy opp the goyt mill on Goyt Avenue, you can tell them how you like the fish and they are not frozen chips.

Can anyone tell me where one can get really nice fish and chips in Marple, where the batter is light and very crispy and where the chips are not frozen before cooking.
