The houses on the Woodville Estate were built by G.A. Lomas of Bredbury who as far as I know are no longer in business.

Im here, but in one of the semi detached.  We havent had many problems with our house apart from inheriting other peoples mistakes (not down to the builders!'<img'>.  I would say the sound insulation between the houses isnt fantastic, but my family are definately more noisier than next door!!!

We like living here, if you have children there are lots of other children for them to play with (but must point, for some reason its mainly boys!!!'<img'>.

Good luck

I believe the houses were built in the 1960's, the era of 'sunshine semi's' with living space reaching from front to back with windows at both ends.

Someone once told me that the houses were built by a company called Lomas, but I have no proof of that but I'm sure others will offer more detail.

The wife and I are looking to move into the housing estate down near Woodville, Wood Lane and Buxton Lane area of Marple, we bere born and raised here so we know the ins and outs of the town. However I was wondering if anyone could shed a little light on the area - regarding the date of construction, the construction company and any general history, for example who is the land ownder etc, I'm sure there must be a couple of users who live on the estate who might be able to help! Also is anyone aware with any common faults with the houses?

All i have found so far in the last copy of Vaults and Viaducts is that the Otters Lodge has 'NO REAL ALE'!

Your thanks in advance

Andy
