The Tombola at the Friends of the Park's Handcrafted Christmas Sale up at Hawk Green Reading Room is already set-up and waiting for your arrival from 10am this morning.

Please make the effort to come and support Friends of the Park and the stall holders!

Please remember to bring your cash! Cake stall tombola and many of the stalls cannot take card payments!

The big day is here and it's time for the Friends of Marple Memorial Park Handcrafted Christmas Sale. Here's the wonderful Lynne Brown on last year's Cake Stall, which was so popular that we've got Lynne and the Cake Stall back at the Hawk Green Reading Room today, Sunday 26 November from 10am.

We're delighted to welcome back Natalie Whittaker Art to the 3rd Handcrafted Christmas Sale in support of Friends of Marple Memorial Park at Hawk Green Reading Room on Sunday 26 November.

PRECIOUS LITTLE PAINTINGS exhibition at Mura Ma Art Space

Opening night Thursday 23 November 7-9pm

Mura Ma has an exhibition of small paintings opening tonight - 14 northern painters in 'Precious Little' and also an exhibition of works on paper by Australian artist Veronica Cay in the vault. 7-9pm.

The official opening takes place on Thursday 23 November, 7-9pm. Everyone welcome.

Mura Ma is an independent artist-run gallery open Thursday to Saturday 11am - 4.30pm.

Marple Men in Sheds and Art Stop CIC at the Handcrafted Christmas Sale: 26 November 2023!

Friends of Marple Memorial Park are really excited to have Marple Men in Sheds and Art Stop Studio ART CLUB as a joint stallholder at the Handcrafted Christmas Sale up at Hawk Green Reading Room on Sunday 26th November - 10am to 4.30pm. They'll have a great selection of handmade items and artwork!

Stockport Road will be closed outside The Hollins for Marple Fest!

Have just learned that Stockport Road will be closed in front of The Hollins for Marple Fest on Saturday 25th.

Stockport Council has confirmed that there is a formal road closure in place, so they have been asked for more details that can be shared urgently to get the message out to the community.

There will be a Memorial Lantern Walk on Saturday 09th December

Everyone who has lost a loved one will feel even more pain at this time of the year. Here is a chance to take a walk or just join the group for a short service in the peace garden.

Afterwards tea, coffee, hot chocolate and Mulled Wine will be served at The Norfolk Arms, Marple Bridge.
  • The walk will start at Mellor Cross.
  • Come down to Longhurst Lane where you can meet us at The Devonshire Arms Mellor
  • Onward to The Royal Oak Mellor
  • Down through The Roman Lakes.
  • Out onto Town Street and along to The Peace Garden.
You can join the walk at any point along the way or just meet at the end.

We have had more than our fair share of tragedy on Town Street this year and we know we, unfortunately not alone.

Please feel free to bring a token of your love, a tribute, maybe in the form of a decoration to hang on the tree after the service. Together we can remember our precious people that no longer stand by our side.
