Mellor Open Gardens 2021: Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July 2021
The Marple Website is delighted to be the first to announce that Mellor Open Gardens is back in 2021 and to be supporting and helping to promote this event.
Instead of opening all day on a Sunday, the event will be spread across two afternoons from 2pm till 6pm on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July.

Plans for Mellor Open Gardens 2021 are now coming together!
As lockdown begins to ease at last, so plans for Mellor Open Gardens are surging forward.
It is of course, fundamentally an outdoor event, but the traditional format been modified to allow for compliance with any ongoing COVID restrictions.
Organisers held a real live meeting in late May and here is an outline of the main outcomes:
- About a dozen gardens have been offered.
- Admission to every garden is to be by coloured ticket available in advance and on the day, price £8 for either day or £12 for both.
- A leaflet providing a map and basic information will accompany each ticket. All further details will be accessible here (https://www.marple.website/mog.html) on The Marple Website.
- Refreshments (tea and cake) will be on sale at the Parish Centre and also at two further gardens, one on Townscliffe Lane and one near the Memorial Garden.
- Two gazebos, one at each end of the village will act as welcome / information places.
- An art exhibition, a raffle and sales of plants, books and general garden paraphernalia will feature at the Parish Centre.
- Parking in the church car park and the adjacent field will be promoted.
- The Devonshire Arms is kindly donating use of their large wooden gazebo where Mellor School will provide an entertaining display of MOGpotpeople.
- And we hope that individual MOGpotpeople will again proliferate throughout the village.
- Visitors will be encouraged to use the 375 bus on the Saturday and we are hoping to run two mini buses on the Sunday.

MOGpotpeople to Take Over Mellor and Marple Bridge?
Residents and businesses in Mellor and Marple Bridge are invited to support Mellor Open Gardens 2021 by decorating the villages with flowerpotpeople, called MOGpotpeople, in their front gardens or shop windows.

£11,600 raised by Mellor Open Gardens 2021
Organisers of Mellor Open Gardens are thrilled to have raised £11,600 over the weekend of 3 and 4 July 2021. Visitors to the 14 Open Gardens seemed very happy to be out exploring, very generous and often very wet! The committee plan to present cheques for £5,800 to Cancer Research UK and Mellor Parish Centre next week.
