Can any one confirm or deny the rumour that what used to be hanbury's is about to become marples first casino? I have been hearing this rumour for a few weeks and recently noticed a licensing application posted outside. Also what are peoples views? Does Marple really need a casino when there are already two in Stockport?

i think you will find that what used to be Hanburys is going to be a bookies and that is why a licensing application has been made

Hanburys cannot become a casino because Marple lies outside the current 'permitted areas' which are the only places in Britain where casinos can be built. These regulations are due to be abolished in the new Gambling Bill but are still in force at the moment.
