Aren't old glass slides amazing!

This image of a postcard showing the junction of Church Lane and Stockport Road was already on the Virtual Tour:

But recently the original glass slide has come into the possession of Marple Local History Society, allowing us to zoom right in:

Apparently the gent sitting on the wall is "Cushy Steel", a member of the Rishworth family who lived at Peace Farm.

With this glass side was another of the same location that I haven't seen before.

This one shows a postman delivering mail and a boy with a newspaper and we can zoom into this too:

These images have now been added to the Church Lane Album on the Virtual Tour: https://visitmarple.co.uk/photos/thumbnails.php?album=lastup&cat=-20 (https://visitmarple.co.uk/photos/thumbnails.php?album=lastup&cat=-20)
