As we eat a lot of lamb and I have seen on the news that farmers are not getting good prices, I thought we could buy a whole frozen lamb. We normally get British meat from Aldi and would expect buying in bulk would be cheaper as well as having less plastic packing.
Is there anywhere local that sells a whole lamb for a good price? (I know from past experience that the butchers in Marple are much more costly then Aldi)

There's a farm at the top of the Monk's road (from Charlesworth up to the top of Chunal) that will do a half lamb for £60 (I cycled past it on an extended commute last week)

This business appears to be based ther, you could try calling them?

I used to buy whole lamb already butchered from G White & Partners at Stanshope, just round the back of Castern Hall. It was always very reasonably priced.

"(I know from past experience that the butchers in Marple are much more costly then Aldi)" That's because the quality is streets ahead. As the niece and cousin of two master butchers and the cousin of a local authority abattoir Inspector (not in this area) I know from whence I write!!
With both Marple butchers you get what you pay for and there is little or no waste.

I don't consider a nice covering of fat to be waste, and found Aldi lamb cooks better than the one time I brought lamb in Maple due to the butcher only have lamb with too little fat.
