Let's Ride - Middlewood Way 150th Anniversary Celebration [6 July 2019]
Come celebrate 150 years since the original Middlewood Way train line was opened by grabbing your bike and riding along the original route.
What's happening at the event:
You can turn up and ride at any time, however we advise

1000 - 1100 Seasoned cyclists
1100 - 1300 Families with children

Registration tents will be at both Rose Hill Marple and the bridge overlooking Bollington Skate Park.

**Please note the track may not be preferable to ride on skinny road tyres**

The Friends of Rosehill Station cordially invite you to join them at the 150th Anniversary of the Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple Railway.

Friday 5th July 2.00pm Rose Hill Station & 3.30pm at High Lane Station.

Unveiling ceremony by the Mayor of Stockport MBC.

Refreshments and entertainment, award of Photo competition winners.

Note: Rose Hill was the first station from Romiley on the way to Macclesfield and is the only one still operational. Other stations will be open for this event over the weekend, on the track of the old line which is now The Middlewood Way.

We now have more details of the celebrations of Rose Hill station's 150th Anniversary, so earlier posts have been merged into a single thread:

Monday 1 July to Saturday 6 July at Marple Library
Exhibition of old photographs of Rose Hill and other stations along the line together with a display of artefacts.

Friday 5 July - Rose Hill Station 2pm
Unveiling by the Mayor of Stockport of ablue plaque commemorating 150 years since the opening of the line from MAcclesfield to Rose Hill. Unveiling of a restored railway station bench as a commemoration of Rose Hill 150. New display of paintings by Rose Hill Primary School in Rose Hill station waiting room.

Friday 5 July - Middlewood Higher station site, Middlewood Way.
Unveiling of a blue plaque commemorating 15o years since the opening of the Macclesfield Bollington and Marple Railway.
Unveiling of a running-in board noting the site of the original station.
Refurbished picnic table.

Friday 5 July, 3.30pm, High Lane station site, Middlewood Way.
Unveiling by Mayor of Stockport of a blue plaque commemorating 150 years since the opening of the station.

Friday 5 July - Marple College
Film Festival of railway-themed and other films.

Saturday 6 July - Cycle Ride
From Rose Hill Station to Bollington viaduct and bac, via Middlewood Way.
10am - 11am: General start time of cycle ride.
11am - 1pm: Start time for families.
Tickets for all (donation £1) to be 'clipped' at each of the stations.

Sunday 7 July - Walk down Middlewood Way to Bollington, return by vintage bus.
Start time 10.30am.
Return bus from car park next to Bollington Viaduct at 3.30pm.
Tickets for all (donation £1) to be 'clipped' at each of the stations.
