St Martin’s Low Marple Christmas Tree Festival 2018

This year the Christmas Tree Festival at St. Martin's Church runs from 30 November until Sunday 2nd December, with most of the trees remaining in place until early in January.

Visitor can view the trees as follows:

Before or after the concert on Friday evening, 30th November. The concert will start at 7:00 pm, and the church will be open from 6:30 pm. Tickets are £6.00 for adults, £1.00 for children and this includes mulled wine or a soft drink, and mince pies in the church hall after the concert. Some of the craft stalls may also be open on Friday evening so that you can do some Christmas shopping.

On Saturday 1st December the church will be open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, and there will also be a craft fair in the church hall where refreshments will be on sale. Admission is by programme which costs £1.00 per adult – accompanied children are admitted free of charge.

On Sunday 2nd December the church will be open from 9:30 am for you to view the trees before our Mass and Toy Service which begins at 10:00 am; and following the service the church will remain open until 4:00 pm. (Donated toys are distributed to children who would otherwise receive nothing. If you would like to donate any toys but you are unable to attend the Sunday service please let me know and we can make alternative arrangements).

The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Stockport will judge the trees on Saturday 1st December at 12:00 noon. Visitors are also invited to vote for their favourite tree. You can vote on Friday, Saturday or Sunday and the votes will be counted after the church closes on Sunday. The winners will be notified as soon as possible. Small prizes will be awarded for the winning trees.

Friends of Memorial Park win Best Overall Tree at St. Martins!

Delighted to report that Friends of Marple Memorial Park won the St Martin's Christmas Tree Festival Best Overall Tree chosen by the Mayor of Stockport.

The theme of the tree (far left below) was the 141 Marple men who fell during WWI.

No news at the moment on who won the public votes.

The church is open for viewing of the trees, or just to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet from 2pm until 4pm each day until 21 December.
