Posted on behalf of the Canal and River Trust:

We have an event coming up which may be of interest to your visitors. We are looking to start a conservation group in Marple, with the aim of planting at Marple Aqueduct, keeping back the weeds, and monitoring plant and animal species in the area. We are holding an introductory event on Saturday 11 March (10am - 3pm), which includes a guided nature walk (taking in the Peak Forest Canal and River Goyt), some short talks on plants and animals in the area, and an opportunity to think about what we might do in terms of maintenance of planted areas.

This event is free but places need to be booked (just so we have an idea of numbers): https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/conservation-day-at-marple-aqueduct-tickets-32092544665 (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/conservation-day-at-marple-aqueduct-tickets-32092544665)

All welcome – we hope to see some of you there!

Vicky
