All emergency services, local transport companies and businesses have been sent several notifications of the closure and diversions. A map of the route was also sent.

The diversion will take traffic from Lower Fold along Hogarth Road, Constable Drive, Hollins Lane and Longhurst Lane and vice versa. There are no diversions to Mill Brow via Lane Ends.

The 375 from Mellor runs Monday to Saturday according to Stagecoach time tabling. Please reconfirm this with the bus company before you travel.

All businesses in Mellor, Mill Brow and New Mills are accessible and are open as usual on the day.

Blimey, her birthday was in April.
Are we celebrating 2-months later because it took us that long to clean up the streets for her? :o

The Queen's Official Birthday is on Saturday 11 June and on Sunday 12 June street parties are taking place throughout the country. Marple Bridge is one of these. Well done to the MBA!

Why is the Guardian piece  an excellent article??? Sneering, patronising, bitter, twisted and rddled with the propaganda of the left agenda would be more appropriate adjectives. The comments section of the article only underline this.

I think you must have been reading a different article to me.  The comments section also has quite a broad range of views.

I'm with Denise on this.  Ignoring 'below the line' comments - which is always the best thing to do! - I can't find a single word in the article which is the slightest bit ' sneering, patronising, bitter, or twisted'.  On the contrary, the tone is gentle and good humoured.  Maybe moorendman didn't actually read it...........

Perhaps he should have help organise to see the amount of work it takes to set up.

I did read it, Dave, I would hardly just pick a newspaper article out of mid air to get irritated by. I read it online though, perhaps if you have to buy it , you feel differently about it's content.

Amazon, as ever , not sure what you are on about.

I am not alone in feeling that the article was following an "agenda" :

My favourite bit of the article was someone saying "She's only 90 once!"

No mate, this is 90th birthday number 2.

I must say that I can see why this article has irritated @moorendman and other Marple Bridge folk. There is just something condescending and superior about the way it's written.

Yes, I suppose you could regard it as a bit condescending, though it didn't strike me that way.

But I'm still struggling to find anything in it which is 'sneering, patronising, bitter, twisted and riddled with the propaganda of the left agenda'. Blimey!   :o

It being a Guardian article, it didn't follow the usual Royal-grovelling tone of other papers.  It did poke fun a little bit, but get over it!
