Marple Carnival 2016
We are pleased to announce the date of the next Marple Carnival - Saturday 18th June 2016!

We will announce the theme shortly so watch this space for more information. In the meantime we are on the look out for local musicians, performers and entertainment to make the carnival fun for all ages. PLease note that there will be major road closures and delays in the centre of Marple on Saturday 18th June 2016 to allow the annual Marple Carnival Parade to take place.

Oldknow Road will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 11.30 hrs. to 15.00 hrs.

Stockport Road, Hibbert Lane, Buxton Lane and Cross Lane will also be closed for short periods from 13.00 hrs as the parade progresses.

Carnival marshals will close affected roads as the parade approaches and reopen them once it has passed. Please be patient and stop when advised to allow the safe passage of the participants in the parade.

TRAFFIC NOTICES FOR CARNIVAL DAY

Please note that additional traffic will be travelling along Union Road, Woodville Drive and Station Road during the parade on Saturday, as these roads are being used as temporary diversions.

Several large  vehicles will be taking part in the procession as in previous years. These vehicles will require adequate room to proceed safely.

A larger number of vehicles than usual will be accessing Memorial Park along Garth Road and Stockport Road for the Carnival Car Boot Sale and to set up entertainment and stalls during the day.

SMBC have suspended parking charges for cars parking in Memorial Park car park for the duration of the Carnival.

SMBC traffic management personnel will be assisting with traffic control during the day and there will be "NO WAITING" cones placed along Oldknow Road, Arkwright Road and parts of Strines Road from early Saturday morning.
