Fancy ‘digging’ August and September?
Three weeks of Mellor Mill Archaeological digs, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, at this historic industrial site, during the closing weeks of the summer.

Revealing Oldknow's Legacy: Family Dig invitation: August 17th to 21st August
(9am to 12noon) & (1pm to 4pm) slots availiable
Looking for a fun family activity that gets you all outdoors and working together? Then book to come and help dig, learn some new skills and help us uncover the remains of Mellor Mill near the Roman Lakes in Marple. Who knows what you might discover! Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Free, suitable for ages 4+, all children to be supervised.
Tools and training provided.


Revealing Oldknow's Legacy: Community Archaeology Dig :  24th - 28th August & 31 August - 4th September

(9am – 4pm each day.)
Can you help us excavate the final part of Samuel Oldknow’s Mellor Mill? No experience needed, just a willingness to get involved in this community project. Enjoy the team spirit, local history and anticipation on this expert-led dig, who knows what you might discover! Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Free, Suitable for 16+, and ages 12 – 15 with supervision.
