Title: Children's Home on Station Road during WWII
Post by: admin on September 01, 2014, 06:55:51 AM
Does anyone have any recollections of a children's home on Stockport Road at a house called "Sandra".

Apparently it was a private home housing around 20 children for a period that included the last years of the war.

Any knowledge or information about this would be appreciated please.

Is this the house that is still called Sandra? Interested because we nearly bought it when we moved to the area.

I thought some of you might be interested to know that thanks to this post (being found in Google) today I've been able to put a gentleman, who as a child during WWII stayed at "Sandra" , in touch with the present owners of the property. I'm hopeful that something rewarding for both parties will come of it and maybe in the longer term some of the people who stayed there may be able to meet up for the first time in 70-odd years. Wouldn't that be a great outcome!
