Marple Hall School genuinely has a Mr Spellman teaching English!

Sadly, A Sharp teaches Design Tech, not music.

and they used to have a teacher of german called Mr English!

My dental hygienist was Miss Payne.
She chose to keep her maiden name when she married - for effect!!!

In the 1960's there was a dentist in York Road, Chorlton called Dr Frankenstein - he was from Latvia and later changed his name possibly due to young boys phoning up and asking for Igor.

My first job was in a Solicitor's office in Marple.  I can remember a Solicitor coming from Manchester to complete a transaction and he was called Ivor Million.
