MARPLE may only be a small community fire station but it has become home to thousands - 20,000 bees that it!
The firefighters at the Hollins Lane station have made their grounds a haven for the insects as part of their drive to be a more sustainable fire station.
Efforts are working as Marple is topping the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service Green Hose Awards - a league to show the greenest station in GMFRS - and has been for the three months since August.
The Green Hose Awards league was only launched in June.
Marple took delivery of two beehives in August which adds to their green credentials as, among other things, they fitted bird boxes earlier this year.
Local beekeeper Alan Towse is managing the hives for the firefighters.

Watch Manager Simon Dowling said: "The idea had been talked about for a number of months by the crews with the lure of fresh honey sealing the deal.
"Our sustainability champion Firefighter Graham Fletcher set to work finding out if we would be suitable to take a hive.
"A number of site visits and phone calls finally paid off when he helped unload the two hives from Mr Towse's car.
"All dressed in his beekeeping PPE, the hives were left overnight and all occupants look to be quite at home in their new home.
"The hives will be managed regularly by Mr Towse and we hope they become a permanent addition to Marple Station's environmental efforts - joining the bird boxes installed earlier this year."

Quite proud of our firemen. Sociable and friendly.
They deserve the creatively structured award and hopefully they'll keep it for years to come.
Lets see them at FOMMP's Task Day if only for 1 minute.
