Does anyone know someone locally who can make curtains and other soft furnishings, e.g. cushion covers, if the fabric is provided?
Many thanks

Yes - my sister is an excellent seamstress. She has worked at the BBC and the Welsh National Opera making opera costumes and taught me how to make curtains with sewn-in linings. She also made my elaborate wedding dress and those of all my school friends.
I'll be seeing her late tonight - please can you give me a few details about what you want?

I'm not certain but I think Harmony Decor on Market Street might. FYI contact details can be found here:

I've sent you a private message about my wife's business, The Curtain Studio.

Many thanks everyone!

I just wanted to add to my earlier post that I followed up a recommendation from the posts and now have some fabulous curtains and cushion covers made by Big Shed's sister, Kate Hill. Kate not only made everything but offered some great advice which has meant our curtains now have a more designer look - definitely an added bonus!
Kate is not only a whizz with curtains and covers, at very reasonable rates, she also makes and alters clothes - if anyone is interested her number is 07765326802.

If anyone's looking for a first-class curtain maker at a reasonable price (including roman blinds, cushions, etc), we'd highly recommend Sarah. She's done two pairs of curtains plus cushions for us and we're really pleased - they look fantastic. (She came to our house to do all the measuring up and fitting, which is very helpful if, like us, you know nothing about this stuff!) She's very generous with her advice, as well as thoroughly professional and reliable. Her number is 07982 254812.

Can anyone recommend any good local curtain and blind suppliers?

It depends what you mean by local.

They did blinds for all of the windows of our house when we moved to Marple a couple of years ago. The results are very good too.

Can anyone recommend any good local curtain and blind suppliers?
@moorendman I've merged a couple of older threads about curtains and blinds with this one as they contain relevant info.

Thanks very much, some useful info there.

@moorendman we also now have a new web site sponsor Despina Curtains & Blinds:

I'd just like to add a recommendation for Despina. They came to do a fitting for a Venetian blind in a non-standard-sized window. The blind they manufactured fitted perfectly and fitted like a glove. The mechanism feels solid and well-made and came in at a reasonable price. I'll be using them again.
