Title: Where else could the new supermarket in Marple go?
Post by: marpudlian on August 24, 2011, 08:56:53 PM: Where else could the new supermarket in Marple go? People have suggested the old Hanbury's building and MacKays, but how about expanding "Marple District Centre" by perhaps building it in the Cahdwick Street car park area?

Actually, Marpudlian, Chadwick Street is already in the Marple District Centre and has already been mentioned by Paul Lawrence, the planning officer in his email to the college which you can find here (http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/80241/response/202061/attach/3/S45C%20211081518130.pdf). It is considered "deliverable" by the council.

Post by: Duke Fame on August 24, 2011, 10:12:31 PM: Perhaps the perfect spot would be on the carpark next to Toast. Then the Car park for the centre would be the Chadwick st side meaning the shop in the precinct get he benefit of passing trade.

That map in fact includes Chadwick Street in the MBD but the carpark is not within the boundary.

The car park IS within the boundary of the District Centre. It's between the Service Road and Chadwick Street.
