Title: Marple life expectancy
Post by: Dave on June 24, 2009, 08:55:40 PM
There's something interesting in the Stockport Express (for a change.......).

It's a table of life expectancy for Stockport by ward.  For those who can handle the morbid truth, click on this link:  http://www.stockportexpress.co.uk/news/s/1122266_health_inequalities_are_unacceptable

It's fascinating that those who live in Marple South can expect to live about a year longer than those of us who live in Marple North.  (Could it be the effect of that balmy tropical climate down there in Marple South?)

Anyway, I fancy an extra twelve months, so I'm thinking of selling up and moving to Marple South.  ;)

Errrrrm which areas are Marple North and which are Marple South ??

I was told years ago that if you lived on the Marple hall side of Marple ( that side of the main road ) it was most important to have a 427 dialling code on your phone number to make yourself more posh !!

If you live on the otherside of the main road  ( like myself )  and you had a 427 number, you were just a bit of a wannabee posh person  !!

As they say, there is nowt funnier than folk ! :P

How late could you leave it to move and claim your extra year :-\

Here's a map, although it's not particularly clear.  http://www.stockport.gov.uk/contactyourcouncillor/wardmappdf?a=5441

Basically, Marple North is everywhere north of Stockport Road, plus Rose Hill, Compstall and Mellor.  The long-lived wannabee posh people are south of Stockport Road, plus Hawk Green and High Lane.
