I read this earlier on Facebook. Wondered if anyone's had a trip to the Norfolk recently and could elaborate?
Just wanted to let everyone who lives in marple know that the Norfolk arms in Marple bridge has been taken over by the people that own the Lounge in Hazel Grove. It is now CHAV FREE as they are all slowly being barred and has a much nicer atmospehere with a jukebox, new drinks and a forthcoming new menu. So if you fancy a local night out then come and visit and spread the word!

'A forthcoming new menu'......now where have I heard that phrase before?
And what's that about 'chav free'? Everyone knows we don't have chavs round here (we have scallies instead)
-
and a strange place to publicise it....
If I was them I'd come here

I love the banner that's just appeared on the outside of the Norfolk, boasting 'New Clientele'!
We've all seen 'new management' before but 'new customers' is a new one on me. Wishful thinking, perhaps?

Had a couple of meals there recently. It's good value, a comfy menu and everything is well done.
The place itself had really come on and a nice atmosphere.
Thankfully, the NIBYism seems to have subsided.

I'd like to echo this - we have started making nearly a weekly visit to the Norfolk over the last few months - love the atmosphere, the beer and the food isn't bad too.
Fantastic

What sort of food do they do at the 'Norfolk' and what sort of prices?
A 'comfy menu' means nothing to me.

Menu looks ago but is dearer than Peruga.

I have been there three times recently with the last visit yesterday lunchtime. Our party of five ordered two sandwiches, a beef burger, a veggie burger and the steak and ale pie. There were no complaints whatsoever. The food and service was excellent as were the surroundings.

Thanks, thebigshed, your reply has helped a lot.
Looks like they do simple bar food (at lunchtimes anyway) which will suit me fine.

The sandwiches and burgers are made with home made bread and I think there is only one menu that is available all day. Others there had the Sunday roast which at just under £9 looked an enormous serving. It's not what I would describe as simple but it is good value.

Dropped by at the Norfolk yesterday - first time for ages. It was quite quiet. I ordered a pint of bitter, and was astonished to find it was £4! It was very nice beer - but blimey, 4 quid for a pint in Marple!! No wonder it was quiet! Is this the most expensive beer in the area?

The wines not cheap either .

The guest beers they had on at the beer festival last weekend were much cheaper.

Nope.
To quote from the thread I started about South Seven: The Samual Adams costs £4 but that’s for an American style 2/3 pint glass, so works out at £6 a pint !!! *gasps for air*

OK, but as South Seven isn't a pub, let me rephrase the question: is this the most expensive pint of ordinary draught bitter in a pub in the area?
