Post by: willow on June 23, 2014, 10:22:19 AM

There is some asbestos in a property I am looking to buy mainly in the base of 2 chimney openings and also the loft hatch door.
Can anyone recommend someone who is willing to remove it? Thank you

To be done legally you will require special contractors .or do it yourself and take to the tip they have special place for that .but make sure you have face masks gloves throwaway suite  ......

As stated, you can take it to the tip at Rose Hill. But it needs to be well wrapped and sealed in industrial strength polythene. Also be aware the slots to put it in are quite high up, so make sure you can lift it!

http://www.hse.gov.uk/asbestos/essentials/index.htm has very useful information,  basically don’t touch Asbestos Insulating Board, but Asbestos Cement can often be done safely if you read up on how to do it first.

See http://www.hse.gov.uk/asbestos/gallery.htm and http://www.hse.gov.uk/asbestos/hiddenkiller/where-is-it-found.htm to help you decide what if any asbestos you may have.
