I live in Church Street and am sorry to say that late night noise is no better here either. So far I have had dogs abuse because some youths thought themselves to be big lads and threaten me at the traffic lights knowing I could not leave my car at the lights then we have young teenagers coming down the street at 1 and 2 in the morning, Making noise and smashing things. In one weekend they took all the wing mirrors or the cars on our street and the next one to it. Last week we had some drug induced youths banging on an elderly neighbours window trying to get in. That was around midnight. I moved to Marple from Wythenshawe which everyone seems to think of as being some sort of getto.I never had problems in Wythenshawe, When moving to Marple we thought it to be a wonderfull place. The people in are nice and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Its just a shame a few people have to spoil things
Cheers

I live on Greenbank Crescent and we have the same trouble every friday & saturday night, and some of these are only kids where are the police? why has it not been raided, and where do the parents of these kids think they are.
very fed up, very tired, and sick of the weekend noise.
Kellys should be investigated and or shut down.

Anyone else on hibbert lane and the surrounding areas sick of the usual fri/saturday night noise and row made in the early hours by the drunken idiots coming outof Kellys late drinking venue.Thisis quiet rural Hawkgreen not whitworth street in Manchester,Weve heard and seen a drunken fight on too frequent occasions, how long are we thelocal residents to put up with it,enough is enough.Would Kelly like it ifwe were to stand outside his house at 2/3 in the morning, shouting andscreaming,I fear not!
-
Yes it is endemic. But it is not restricted to Marple, Stockport or the North West. It is typical of the current lack of respect for people or property.
A typical response from the police on this, and other matters, is "its not bad enough for us to do anything about it yet". Â I doubt if anything will ever be bad enough for the police to do anything, except for matters to do with driving.
After you have moved away, let us know if its any better, or worse. There are plenty of places a lot worse than Marple. An awful lot worse.

Woodville Drive too..
Seen fighting.. screaming 'yoofs' on top of cars.. bent mirrors/windscreen wipers.. setting fire to for sale signs etc..
Fed up of it. Nearly every weekend there's some sort of disturbance in the early hours. It's only quiet when it's windy and raining!
I was awoken one morning to see some drunken lout on top of our car. (found out later he'd been over every car)
I wish now that I hadn't banged on the window and shouted such nasty things at him - I should raced down to see him safely off as he nearly fell and could've been hurt!
(That's what I will tell the police if I see him at it again) !
-
Every Weekend the same, we live on upper hibbert lane and are directly in the firing line. It's not just the wing mirrors being kicked offf, our last car had dents in the roof that could only have been caused by someone jumping up and down on it repeatedly.
Saturday morning I discovered another fresh dent in the bonnet where someone had thrown a stone.
One weekend we discoverd the car was covered in blood from one of the frequent brawls.
Why is a 'nightclub' located in a residential area?

I wonder how many of these problems are caused by repeat offenders and are very often local to the area.
Could I suggest you go to the following web site where you will find considerable information on anti-social behaviour and various services.

We will ask the police to investigate, not a happy situation is it !
-
Thankyou MCC for your reply. I am fortunate in the fact that I am not affected by this particular issue but do share a consern for vulnerable that could be further affected.
I would be interested in any response from the police as I do not have any faith in them, maybe they can begin to prove themselves.
-
Unfortunately I've heard all this before and am sick of reporting it to the police - they need to clean up the town centre of drunken abusive teenagers more than anything - I agree with everything on this thread.
And don't even get me started on the politicians (especially the MP) and some of the responses I have had off the police.
The problem is not a particular nightclub etc, they will get wasted and cause trouble where ever they go - it is endemic across the town.
Still, we have decided we have had enough and are moving out of Marple - sick of hearing my voice fall on deaf ears.
-
It is unfortunate to read about a member of the community moving because of anti-social behaviour, I do wonder whether this reason will be declared on the SPIF and ultimately wonder if it has an adverse affect on the sellers property value. Let's be honest, who really wants to buy or rent a property when and if they get the truth.
I do wish you good luck, but I wonder if relocation is the answer.

Whens something going to be done, its a disgrace..!!!!
A local petition might get the police doing something.

Hibbert Lane resident sick and tired every Friday and Saturday of the lanuage I admit i swear but i would not do it loudly down the street I walk down that street after the pub after having a few beers and i do not feel the need to swear loudly I cannot understand how Kelly's keep getting a licence and all I can say is anybody going in the restaurant is supporting him.
-
Kelly's get its licence because it clearly meets it legal requirements and cannot be held responsible for the actions of its punters outside.
I wonder if other residents of Hibbert Lane are having these severe problems as this board only has entries from 3 residents.
Maybe you should attend the up and coming public meeting.

While these so called "teenagers" a majority i'm sure are middle aged are in kellys nightclub, is it not true that they are doing a lot less harm than they would be hanging about the streets?, also i'm sure it's only a small minority actually causing trouble outside and damaging residents property and this happens from drinkers at nearby pubs. this is the society we now live in and in any small, medium, large town you are going to experience this sort of behaviour. Not everyone enjoys a glass of wine and a good book in front of the fire on a friday night!

Thanks Flash
I think we can all sleep better now then.
Because, I thought that as my car was damaged at 2.30 in the morning by drunken louts dancing on top of it that it was a problem that I shouldn't have to put up with.
Now you've explained to me that they're doing less harm than if they were on the streets.. Oh hang on.. that's where your comment breaks down.
Think Flash. When they're inside the club that's fine.. it's when they're out on the streets walking home etc.
I'm not a  prude Flash and I don't curl up with a book by the fireplace on a Friday night, I like a drink etc. like a lot of people, but, I do have respect for other people and their property.
These 'teenagers' obviously can't control themselves after drinking until the early hours..

well said!

Some good points made by Tricky.
Flash is obvously not flash enough, a poorly thought out paragraph by somebody who sounds like they are one drunkerds waking people up and generally being a nuisance, if not you certainly make yourself seem like a suporter of them at least.

Id just like to reply to some of the comments made since my last post.
As regards there being replies from only 3 residents that can only be put down to not too many using or being aware of this forum, there are many elderly residents around the vacinity of the mill and if there like my old man theyd struggle to get here.Last night friday/sat morning was one of the noisiest ever,Id also like to know as mentioned earlier when and where there might be some residents meeting.
As for flash well,enough said.

Fortunately I dont live on the main route to and from the Goyt Mill. I have no reason to doubt the descriptions of disturbances that have taken place. I feel desparately sorry for those people whose quality of life is disturbed by these incidents.
I do have to agree that Kelly's cannot be responsible for the conduct of people outside of their premises and I entertain no doubt that they exercise stringent rules and common sense with regards to who they allow into the premises, I feel sure that they must also excercise strict control on keeping within the law as far as under age drinking and use of substances on their property is concerned Am I correct in assuming that they employ fully trained and licenced door staff and enjoy a good working relationship with the police. . I feel sure that they are not motivated purely by profit but by a desire to provide leisure and recreational facilitites to the community. I also think that if there was any contavention of fire regulations, overcowding etc. Surely they must have courtesy notices displayed reminding their patrons to consider the local residents when making their way home. I am sure that Kelly's will abide by every clause and restriction that is contained within their lease of the premises and that no infringement of planning consent is evident.
Perhaps in fairness to " Mr Kelly" he should be invited to make a statement to the community either byLocal newspaper or this website, would the administrator consider forwarding this topic to him and or the press.
Or do the residents want to club together and take recourse to Law, through the licencing magistrates.
Every opportunity should be given to Mr Kelly to demonstrate his committment to the well being of the community, why ? because  he stands accused and has not been given the chance to respond....should he so desire

Reading the various postings. prompts me to suggest that readers might like to take a look at the community councils webpage. There is a leader article about crime and disorder.
Perhaps residents might like to support the Marple community council by attending the meeting this week
Here's a direct link to the MCC site http://www.marpleccexec.org.uk/

i have found this after having a good search on the forum, 2004 was the last post on here, did anyone ever go to the meetings or make any complaints?
There is a new thread on this subject, and what has been mentioned on there is pretty much the same on here.
I think a meeting should be held and all the residents what are fed up of the noise, damage etc.. need to turn up and voice their concerns.
-
You can't keep bad mouthing the police because there is only a small number covering the whole of Stockport.....And Marple is hardly the roughest area around! However, i do agree that many people don't see Marple as 'posh' anymore, which is a result of the 'scally' population causing ongoing problems. I worked at the co-op until last June when me, 2 collegues and my family were 'jumped' at closing time. The police helped us right through to the end and we got justice! It was the management at the co-op that didn't care (but thats another story! ) It's a shame that these careless people have to ruin it for the others, but i just think it's a matter which will never be controlled (unless kellys is closed down of course)

Night of the living dead does not stop at Hibbert Lane. Yes people have a right to own their own business and I do hope that Kellys makes a substantial profit, but what we are talking about in here is the unessesary crime and disorder caused by these venues.
I live on Church Lane and it is turned into Night of the Living dead every Friday/Saturday night. The drunk set on the ritual crusade that is the walk home from their chosen place of watering. In groups they are worse, alone they can be funny.
The point I wish to make is that we are talking about a minority of revellers and not everyone who would choose to boogey down at Kelly's. So it would be harsh to point the finger at an establishment because it offers recreational facilities to the community, when only a percentage of its patrons are the alleged offenders.
It is clear there is a problem, the correct way to address any damage by calling the police and reporting incidents. They have the intelligence to deal with ongoing problems.
