Last night there was cracks of what sounded like gun fire. There was a lad walking past the college there were some further bangs and visible flashes of gunpowder coming from the direction of a lad walking past the college away from the town. This was 00.30 am, Thursday. Anyone hear anything?

I'm afraid it is probably due to the annual start of firework sales. The last week has seen a plague of them being let off around central Marple and I've just had to extinguish yet another fire that they have set off in a roadside litter bin.

There have been a lot of these loud bangs recently, at first I thought it was cars backfiring but there have been too many for it to be that and the fireworks explanation sounds more likely. Mystery solved, although the nuisance isn't!

That depends on what you think is a nuisance. My dog loves them. Every time one goes off he barks his head off.
Therefore I consider them a bloody nuisance, he doesn't!

Alot of it is silly boys playing with fire!! It happened last year right outside my house and scared alot of motorists half to death! Its annoying and down right dangerous....if they end up hurt i will have no sympathy as they have woke my son up numerous times!! They go round marple thinking they are 'hard' and 'funny. Seems to have stopped....maybe they ran out of money but i hope they grow p and stop. they nweed to seet from the point of view of afamilyor elderly person....they could cause some serious damage

I'm not sure were on earth these monkeys are getting their "boom" from, but I wish they'd stop!
Last night there was only one firework let off (from what I could hear out of my window) But that sounded more like a bomb than a firework!
A remember a few years back when I was in year 7 at MHS someone in year 11 got hold of a firework and shoved it in a bin. The resulting blast blew the bin to piece's!
