Chris Baker is standing down in Marple South and so the Lib Dems will put forward a new candidate.

Andrew Bispham in Marple North.

Oliver, might we expect to have a Tory Candidate?

You will definitely have a Tory candidate in both wards.

Well I do hope that the Conservative candidates will put themselves about amongst the electorate- and lets have a few public debates.

Well we have been working pretty much since the last election in Marple - you should have had at least one of our leaflets by now.

On the public debates issue - we have challenged Lib Dem councillors in the past to public debates (not in Marple but in other wards such as Hazel Grove) and they refuse. They claim that they regularly justify themselves to the electorate and give other ridiculous excuses. Regardless of what party you're from, you should have the guts to defend yourself against the opposition.

Hi Trixie, it most certainly is. Not commented for a while but I do regularly check the forum. I have only just come back into politics properly after taking a break to focus on other things. Given the fact that I do care about the area and that questions are asked about local politics, I see it appropriate to respond.

I should say your Conservative candidate will not be me this year. I expect this comes as good news to some people  ;)

I'm in, standing in 'North' I'm campaigning to reduce spending, tax and waste.

Can I depend on your votes?

Spending is already falling, and council tax is frozen. If elected, how will you propose to reduce it?

I'm sure there is plenty scope for further cost reduction, lower staff levels etc.

More importantly, to show I'm listening, what do you see as a chronic waste of money in Stockport?

'I'm listening' is usually politician-speak for 'I haven't got any ideas but I'm hoping someone else will' ;-)

If you're standing in the election Duke, it seems only polite to let us all know who you are, your business interests, political views and intentions not related to slashing public spending, which we've had ad infititum.  Go on, put your head above the parapet.
