Not sure if I'm allowed to do this but here goes.
I am looking for a sharer to take on my horse approx 3 days a week. He's a 17 year old, 16.2hh, Irish Draught-type gelding with excellent manners who loves people.
He goes astride and in side saddle (free beginner's side saddle lessons available for sharer if required). He is willing to try anything - he's hunted with drag-hounds, done a few endurance pleasure rides, worked on the Riding School, hacks out alone or in company and is totally unfazed by traffic. He is a favourite with farrier, vet and anyone who has anything to do with him and is a thoroughly safe gentleman. On the down-side - he's a bit lazy in lessons but will try hard if he thinks you mean it and he HATES showing but he's so obliging in anything you ask of him that we let him off it.
He's anyone's horse. If you want excitement he'll do cross country at a rate of knots but if you want a Nervous Nellie's hack he's your man. He's been sat on for lead rein walkouts by a 4 year old, hunted by a side-saddle lady and a former Master of Hounds and ridden for fun by teenagers and by an elderly lady who has rather lost her nerve after years of riding.
He lives between Marple and Glossop and is stabled at night and turned out, weather permitting, in the day time. In summer he lives out, so currently little or no mucking out! Oh, yes, and he's a piece of cake to catch.
I'm looking for a adult sharer who has experience with horses but you don't need to be a HOYS standard groom. You will be aged at I will need to see you ride as there is a safety issue involved and I may ask for references if you aren't known to me or anyone I know in the horse field - an instructor who knows you would do. A small financial contribution will be required.
If you are seriously interested please send me a private message with your phone number and I'll get back to you asap.
