I see the wrecking crew have moved in to peacefield 'Windmill Demolitions' :-\ while on the other side of the road there's surveyors from Morris Homes measuring up the old P&P site in view of building around 90 FAMILY homes. Family's who's children are going to have to travel to Rose Hill. Seems ironic doesn't it! ::) ???

Agreed, add to that the same number of homes built on the Peacefield site, which presumably will be family homes - not sure whether the one primary school in Marple will be able to cope? But hey - birth rates are falling so Rose Hill will be able to manage!!

So when these new family homes go on the market local Marple born and bred people will not be able to afford them. Also the daily traffic jam into Stockport will grow.

I worry about my children buying homes in the future ... we were first time buyers when we bought our house we live in now 13 years ago , and if we were buying it now, there is absolultely no way we could afford it .. our children do not stand a chance on the housing market in Marple
My son will have to stay with Mummy ... forever :P

I live in Dukinfield and people ask me when i am moving back to Marple, i turn around and say when the house prices come down so that I can afford to live in Marple, so i dont know how first time buyers manage to get a good deal in Marple.

Started work on pulling down Park and Pattersons yesterday. Wonder when the chimney will go? Doubt it will be a big event like the Strines Printworks one!

Did anyone see the big chimney get knocked down this morning? Was waiting for some sort of announcement about the day it was going to be knocked down but nothing. Just noticed it there this morning, next time I looked it had gone!

There still remains a concerning report about the toxins in the soil on the proposed housing development at Park and Pattisons. The report that was not so long ago, recommended that if houses were built on the site residents were advised not to grow vegetables for consumption and other such recommendations were issued. I hope the new land owners are aware that this will be highlighted in the solicitors search or they could have bought a pig in a poke. My father worked for 30 years at Park and patterson and like so many other employees was racked by strange ailments in later life. I am sure readers of this post could identify ex Park and Pattison employees who developed some form of nervous system illness, strokes or premature death whilst working in that toxic environment >:(
