Title: Congratulations to Mathew Walker MBE

Just a reminder to everyone that Marple's very own Matthew Walker will soon be taking part in the Beijing 2008 Paralympics. Matthew will be competing in the following events:

Sunday 7th September - 200 IM

Monday 8th September - 100 Freestyle

Wednesday 10th September - Relay

Saturday 13th September - 50 Butterfly

Sunday 14th September - 50 Freestyle

Title: Local swimmer wins Bronze Medal @ Para Olympics

Local swimmer Matt Walker has just won a bronze medal in the 200M Individual Medley at the Para Olympics in Beijing. He is also competing in another 4 events this week.

 Well done Matt he has just won another bronze medal in the 100 mtrs freestyle at the Beijing Paralympics.

Absolutely! Continuing the congratulations as Matt and his team mates won Gold yesterday in the 4 x 100 relay.

As far as I can make out searching for Matt's results he won silver in both the 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle, giving him a haul of 5 medals, 2 bronze, 2 silver and a gold. A fantastic achievement!

Yes thats correct Mark   5 races and 5 medals what an achievement we are all so pleased for him

GOLD  4x100 relay WORLD RECORD
SILVER  50 Fly
SILVER  50 FREESTYLE
BRONZE 200 IM
BRONZE 100 FREESTYLE

Matt arrives home Thursday night 18th September

My daughter has just got back from Beijijng tonight after watching him out there said it was fantastic
