Title: Community News Articles
Post by: Denisea on December 15, 2002, 10:48:50 AM
Read the last article that you have written for the Community News with sadness.  I think that the articles have elevated the paper from being just a vehicle for local ads.  I hope that the Editors at the News receive lots of complaints about the loss of the articles - I shall certainly add my voice.   :(

Denise,

Thank you for your comments, I've waited for a while to respond in order to see if anyone else was going to contribute any views, but it would appear not.

I've just written to the paper this evening confirming that we will not be writing for them anymore, which I agree is pretty sad because we largely enjoyed it. It's no fun when your efforts don't get the treatment or acknowledgement that you think they deserve though, as your may often be able to pick up in the intros to many of our articles on-line.

It's a little bit like the lack of use this forum's getting just lately - is it worth the trouble?

Any suggestions what we can do with all the spare time on our hands now  on a posting please.......

Have you thought about widening the remit of your articles and seeing if the other free papers would like to publish them?  Or what about a book??

I live outside the area that the Community News is delivered in, so the loss of them from the paper does not affect me. However I have found the articles published on the website to be extremely interesting and informative and I shall be sorry to see them go, or at least reduce in frequency, if another outlet is not found for them.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to and written the articles to date. I have learnt more about Marple and its neighbours than I ever did at school! I do hope they continue in some way, shape or form.

Merry Christmas

Alison
