Hi
Apologies in advance - not 100% Marple related - apart from the fact that you folks have helped me out before so I am hoping you can again!
I have a friend who has told me that what she really really wants as a treat for her birthday is some French Macaroons. I know there is a posh shop in London called Laudree that does fantastic ones, but it is a bit OTT to go all the way down there for them!
Does anyone know of any 'posh' bakeries in the locale that might be worth a try. I can't believe that living on the edge of the footballer belt as we do there isn't somewhere that has these treats, but as I am more of a Coop girl myself I would not know where to start! Any ideas anyone?
Maybe I'll just get her some socks!

Hi Alison,
Why not try and make some yourself, I looked at " french macaroons recipe" on google and it comes up with lots of yummy recipes ( the raspberry macaroons sound nice).
My son made some cakes for his great grandma, by the time we had wrapped them up in posh celophane and a few ribbons, they looked much nicer than any we could buy and had the personal touch to them which was nice.

Nice theory - I may have a go but I am not really that practiced at cake making - in fact, since I finally left home just over 10 years ago (don't think M & D have taken the bunting down yet!) I have not made one proper cake - but I do a mean line in chocolate brownies and cookies!
Maybe I will get brave one rainy weekend and have a go
