:cool:With reference to the carnival route, when I was a kid, before they built the row of shops opposite Texaco, the fair used to held where the shops are now. When they decided to build the shops the fair was moved across the road onto the spare ground which is now Texaco. I am sure that I am correct about this? I don't remember the route coming down Church Lane, I thought it went along Market street, down to Hibbert Lane and then followed the same route as it does now along Hibbert Lane etc.
