Tonight I have been asked if I can confirm the rumours that Mellor Cross is to be dismantled. I haven't heard anything about this before but does anyone out there know more?

I hope it 's not true

I've raised this with someone who ought to know.  It's news to him, but he's looking in to it.  If I learn anything I'll post it here.

I have it on good authority that there is no truth in this rumour, and that the cross is here to stay (although if this windy weather goes on for much longer, maybe we shouldn't bank on it...........)

I too have been told that Churches Together in Marple know nothing of this and that it isn't going to happen.
