Reaching out for a better future

The Children's Society is one of the most innovative and exciting children's organisations in Britain. As the fourth largest and one of the longest established children's charities in the country, we help more than 30,000 children and young people every year. We're not afraid to take risks and speak out wherever children are suffering injustice and abuse. In over ninety projects all over England and Wales, we're working to develop long-term solutions to the very serious problems faced by these young people every day.

In schools and on the streets, in communities, in prisons and in the home, we're working to help all our children reach out for a better future.

How you can help

If you have some time to spare, The Children's Society shops need your help. Not only are there a wide range of jobs on offer, the hours you choose to work can be very flexible. There is always plenty to do and there's rarely a dull moment. You don't need any previous experience, because we'll train you.

These are just some of the jobs which might appeal to you:

  • Sorting stock

  • Operating the cash register

  • Window and in-store display

  • Preparing the stock

  • Dealing with customers and people who give donations for sale.

Don't worry if you've never used a till or dealt with customers before, not only will you be given thorough training, help is always on hand from another volunteer.
