An incredible time was had at the Ringer's last night - it was an excellent quiz (even if we do say ourselves! ) and there was a good size crowd in - £70.55 was raised towards the Iron Bridge Fund.

The Higher and Lower Game was amazing - we had agreed to play until someone won it, as the prize had reached £100 and a second pot had been building nicely for a few weeks. Last time we did this it took 23 attempts before it was won.

Last night 57 tickets were sold. 56 tickets were drawn and nobody won the prize. The 57th ticket drawn was held by a lady collecting money for Breast Cancer Research, and the pub erupted when she won the £100 for charity. You couldn't have written a better script!

Next quiz is on Wednesday 5th November, when the charity to benefit will be The Poppy Appeal again.

I was on holiday and missed last week's quiz - so no report, sorry!

Next quiz at the Ringer's, in aid of the Iron Bridge Restoration, should be on Wednesday 19th November.

Other £70 was raised for the Iron Bridge at last night's quiz, and the £100 prize on the Higher & Lower Game was won at the second attempt!

Next quiz is Wednesday 3rd December at 9.00 pm - it'll be in aid of the Marple Gang Show.

£72 was raised for the Marple Gang Show at last night's quiz. The Higher & Lower Game wasn't won and the pot of £50 will go forward to the next quiz, on Wednesday 17th December.

This will be in aid of the Iron Bridge and will have a Christmas Theme, as it's the last one this year - where has it gone!

£68.50 was raised for the Iron Bridge last night at a great Christmas Quiz. The Higher and Lower Game prize of £68.50 (coincidentally) was won at the first attempt, in what was probably a world record time!

The next quiz will be in the New Year on Wednesday 7th January, when the cause to benefit will be the Marple Gang Show again.

Not sure exactly how much was raised in the second Gang Show Quiz as we weren't involved in the counting and neither Peter or I can remember what was announced - we think it was in the region of £60 plus.

I can report that the Higher and Lower Game wasn't won and the £20 pot will go forward to the next game at the quiz for the Iron Bridge on Wednesday 21 January.

A very well attended quiz last night resulted in £91.80 towards the Iron Bridge fund, which is an excellent result, thank you everyone who came along.

The Higher and Lower Game wasn't won and the pot of £47.50 will go forward to the next quiz, on Wednesday 4th February.

The benefactor of this quiz, and the one on 3rd March, will be Mark Houghton - the young Marple boxer from Bredbury Stockport Boxing Club - who has the chance of a lifetime to go on a sporting trip to Canada in April if he can raise enough money. These two quizzes will hopefully help see him on his way.

Last night's quiz at the Ring o' Bells raised £76.55 towards 11 year old Marple boxer Mark Houghton's sporting trip to Canada with Bredbury Stockport Boxing Club, in April this year.

The Higher and Lower game wasn't won and the prize money will be carried forward to the next quiz night on Wednesday 18th February, which will be in aid of the Iron Bridge.

Last night's quiz raised a further £86 towards the Iron Bridge Restoration, taking our community raised funding to just over £5,500.

The Higher & Lower game prize of £93.50 was not won and will be carried over to the next quiz, when the prize will be a jackpot £100.

With a change of Landlord comes a change of routine, and we're pleased to announce that starting next Wednesday 25th February there will be a Ringer's Quiz EVERY WEEK!

This changes the timetable slightly and the second quiz to raise funds towards Boxer Mark Houghton's trip to Canada will now be next week, the 25th February.

All other details are the same, 9.00 pm start - but get there early if you want to be sure of a seat!

A quieter night than usual but the quiz still managed to raise a further £39.30 towards Mark Houghton's trip to Canada. The total raised over the two quizzes for this cause is £115.85, which will be on its way to Mark shortly.

The Higher and Lower Game Jackpot of £100 was not won and will be carried forward to next week, whilst a second pot builds nicely for the game after it's won. Maybe we'll have another one of those exciting 'play til it's won' nights soon!

The next quiz on Wednesday 3rd March will be in aid of Guide Dog puppies.

The quiz on 3rd March raised £82.50 towards the Guide Dog Puppies. Hopefully a similar amount will be raised at the second quiz for this cause, on Wednesday 10th.

The Higher and Lower wasn't won again, taking us ever closer to that play it 'til it's won night if the prize doesn't go soon.

Another quieter night - not sure everyone's got the hang of the weekly slot yet - but £36.40 was raised for the puppies, bringing the total to £118.90 over the two weeks.

The Higher and Lower £100 jackpot has still not gone and will carry over again. Next week's quiz, on St Patrick's Day, is in aid of The Iron Bridge.

The quiz on Wednesday raised £71 towards the Iron Bridge Restoration. The next quiz on 24th March will raise money for the MS Society.

The Higher and Lower Game was nearly but not quite won and the jackpot remains at £100 with the second pot building steadily.

The Quiz last night raised £43.50 for the MS Society. The second quiz for this charity is next week on Wednessday 31st March.

The Higher & Lower ran close again but still no winner for the £100 jackpot prize. Surely it must go soon!

An excellent £75.50 was raised towards the MS Society at last Wednesday's quiz, bringing the total over the two quizzes to £119.

The Higher and Lower game is still proving too much of a challenge and this time I was one of the 3 who failed to complete the game!

The next quiz on 7th April is for Marie Curie - 9.00 pm start.
