I agree give it a go and see if you like it or not.... Yes we have terraces and these have wheelie bins,  we also have lots of houses built has 2 flats and these have wheelie bins.
I agree that they can be quite bulky and that they dont look nice to see in your back garden, but then we dont have lots of rubbish all over on bin days,  all we have is a bin outside your house for a couple of hours( you put it out when you go out to work and bring it back in when come home).  We also have company that for a small charge, they come and clean the wheelie bins every two weeks.

Can I point out that Wheelie bins are not a brilliant answer for everyone - due to access problems, space etc etc. Stockport Council agreed with me that the size of the green wheelie bins made them inappropriate for my small terraced house - there is nowhere to store them, and the collecters are not prepared to collect from the back of the property so I even assuming I had space for it, I would have to wheel it down a narrow unlit path, over some grass, and then round to the front of my property every 2 weeks. the council said that whilst other alternatives had been discussed, such as hessian bags, none were taken into account by the company they employed to implement the green waste scheme so I have no viable way of utilising the waste collection scheme.
Now they are talking about forcing us to have wheelie bins for normal waste and the same arguments apply - they are just too big for some properties and not very easy to get to the front of the property. Bin bags are easier, and at the moment the waste collecters do collect from the rear of my property (although no doubt that will stop).
It just seems to me that I am in effect having more and more services taken off me, whilst I pay the same council tax as some other people. The decisions are probably being taken exclusively by people in larger houses, drives up the side, space for two plastic monsters, and the ability to fill the hulking great things.
If any councillors read this board can you please bear in mind that your voting public live in big houses and small, are young and more mature, and your 'one size fits all' solution DOESN'T.
OK rant over!!! Happy new year everyone! '<img'>

I live in Dukinfield, and we have a blue wheelie bin for paper, black one for rubbish and then green one for recycling and a red bag inside the green one for plastic(we all will be getting brown ones soon for garden rubbish). Yes i admit it makes life easy, you dont have any cats, dogs or foxes getting in to them.
The only problem is that they now say that the lid has to be shut on the rubbish bin for health and safety reasons so if you have a lot of rubbish like it being christmas then we have to go to the tip.

There is a letter in the stockport times this week, with the same concerns Denise.
I have the same problem, we live away from the road which in some ways is good, (kids can play outside house without the worry of a road), but it also has it's downfall's like: I have to take all my bin bags up to the top by the roadside, hump a huge green bin for garden waste up there and bring it back down myself, also our neighbours as she can not manage it herself. Take the recycle box and recycle paper bag up and down too! it's that or they don't get emptied. The bin men always come down our way but for some reason always leave my bags! ( if I have forgotten to take them up )
So wheelie bins for us is a headache too!

Unless you live on a hill - with steps and narrow pathways between where the bins are and the road.
