Hi Janet,

If you're still interested enough in Marple to visit here regularly, then we're interested to know your views. I hope you'll share them with us ocassionally and thanks for letting us know.

It's also nice to have contacts abroad whose opinions you can seek about holidays and visits. We've already had similar topics about Austrailia and Moscow, so why not Denmark.

You should start a topic in the Marple Ex-Pats section and tell us something about living there.

Just to let you know - I am a regular viewer but unfortunately my opinion about Marple topics isn't worth anything - I live in Denmark! I use this great web-site to keep up with what is going on in Marple! '<img'>

Can you use PayPal in the UK ?

I'm a dotcom programmer in New York, and have set up many sites with a PayPal account for donations ... it works surprisingly well.

I put a temporary site up for a friend last year who was trying to raise money for a trip to South America.  He put a message on the site saying he would write all about his travels when he returned.  He raised about $8000.00 in six weeks ... and hasn't returned yet.

If people will pay for something as stupid as that, surely they will pay for a great site like this.  It's only the cost of a pint of beer !

As Steve said, you could use Nochex or maybe WorldPay as an alternative, without going all the way and setting up a merchant account at Verisign which really wouldn't be worth it for the amount of cash you would be collecting.

If I can help in any way just let me know.  You can buy me a beer in the Railway/Ringers  '<img'>

Hi jonp,

You won't be able to vote until your registration is accepted. Providing you entered a valid e-mail address when you registered you should receive an automated e-mail with a link in specific to your registration. If you click that, your registration will be approved, you'll become a full fledged member and be able to vote and use other functions that are not currently available to you.

If you don't click the link, or if you don't receive the e-mail because you made a mistake when entering the address, you won't be unable to complete the registration unless I intervene manually.

Let me know if you are having problems in this respect by e-mailing me at mj.whittaker@ntlworld.com and I'll process your registration for you.

I'll also try to figure out how to collect all these £2's from everyone   '<img'>

Don't give up - some of us are just a little slow on the uptake and have only just realised we have to register!

Just testing the water, would anyone be willing to help pay for more promotion of this site?

I've taken a look at the nochex system and it looks quite simple and neat, providing you were happy to give your debit card details to them.

The problem in our situation regarding the collection of small sums of money is the 99p charge for loading money from the bank and the 99p charge for withdrawing money to the bank.

This means that we could incur charges of 99p for each £2 to pay it into nochex and another 99p for me to get it out. £7 charges to collect £12 doesn't seem reasonable.

Has anyone else looked at this and would you consider using it?

I have tried to vote a few times ... even when I am logged in the system tells me that I can't vote.

For what it's worth you can have my two pounds !

See what I mean Jay! This has been viewed 15 times already but nobody has voted one way or the other yet '<img'>

If it helps - I can't tell who's voted, or how.
