Lock 11, Memorial Park

Good afternoon

I attended Lock 11 next to Memorial Park yesterday due to concerns over work being carried out. I spoke to the Canal and River Trust (CRT) representative and was informed that interim work is taking place due to the lock sides bowing inwards. The priority is to keep the lock open through the peak season and carry out further work once the peak is over.

There had been concerns over the yellow filler used for mortar issues as it was breaking off into the canal, which is an environmental problem and needed addressing. The CRT state they have implemented measures to stop this and I will keep a close watch on this.

The CRT are happy to speak to anyone passing about what they are doing. I have been in touch with the senior operations officer and asked to be kept up to date with any progress, and I will post on here whenever I receive anything.

I hope this helps for anyone concerned, I have had a fair amount of contact over this so thought it best to inform as many as possible.

Kind regards

Steve
