Did anyone else notice that Marple Baths got a mention on last Friday’s ‘Corrie’ (first episode on 26th Jan)?
Brian (ex teacher who now works for the council) mentioned wresting matches at Marple Baths.

I certainly remember the dances they held there during the winter when they boarded the pool over (and had the sparkly globe) but I don’t recall anything about wrestling matches there.

But, hey, I was visiting with a carnival queen from a different village and I’m talking about the late 60’s/early 70’s when I was about 14-15 yrs old!
Google www.wrestlingheritage.co.uk/tthundercloud.htm and look up "Lord Bertie Topham" and read Eddie Rose's comment.

I also don't recall any wrestling matches at the baths, the ones that I used to watch with my parents were held at Stockport Town Hall.
