Why should it afect virgin media

Virgin media has its own power network that is connected to the public power network in a few locations, therefore if one of these locations lose power it can stop a large area having virgin TV, Phone or internet until virgin turns up with a generator.

Had  a brief power outage late Fri night in central Marple. This has happened in the past during high wind and/or thunderstorms, presumably caused by problems with overhead wires. But there was no inclement weather last night. Sounds like there is some dodgy equipment or underground cable somewhere.

Another power cut in Marple Bridge. This is the 3rd in as many weeks.

Despite power coming back on after ten minutes seems to have broken Virgin media broadband.
