Whoever the idiot was who devised the coning off of one lane at the traffic lights at the  junction of Station Road and Stockport Road, wants firing.
Total total unnecessary chaos. What was the left turn or straight ahead lane has been coned off forcing all the traffic to queue in the right hand lane which is then blocked after the right filter changes. Massive queues in all directions.
Why they feel the need to cone off the lane rather than just block Station Road escapes me.
If anyone knows who to contact to suggest changes can they do so please.

I am SO glad that I don't need to use the car for work these days. This is going to be dreadful.

Info received today from SMBC....should be fun  :-\

Highway Investment Programme

?       A626 Station Road, Marple ? Carriageway Resurfacing (Stockport Road to Hollins Lane)
?       Hollins Lane, Marple ? Carriageway Resurfacing (Station Road to Stockport Road)

As part of the programme, Stockport Council will be carrying out carriageway resurfacing on Station Road, Marple (between Stockport Road and Hollins Lane), and Hollins Lane, Marple (between Stockport Road and Station Road). This work will be carried out by our Alliance Partner Tarmac Ltd.

The work on Station Road is due to commence on Wednesday 23rd September 2015 and is anticipated to take up to three weeks to complete, weather permitting and will be carried out between the hours of 9:30 and 15:30. Unfortunately, to carry out this work it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements with a temporary prohibition of driving (road closure) during the working hours stated above to allow safe working for our operatives. During this time a signed diversion route will in operation via Stockport Road, Oldknow Road and Arkwright Road.

The work on Hollins Lane will be carried out in two phases. Phase 1 of the work, from Station Road to the ASDA car park entrance, is anticipated to start on Wednesday 23rd September 2015 and will be carried out in conjunction with carriageway resurfacing works on Station Road. This phase is anticipated to take up to three weeks to complete, weather permitting, and will be carried out between the hours of 9:30 and 15:30 Monday to Friday.

Phase 2 of the work, from the ASDA car park entrance to Stockport Road will be carried out over two consecutive Sunday evenings (4th and 11th October from 16:00hrs) with some minor works during the week.

Unfortunately to carry out this work it will be necessary to restrict traffic movements with a temporary prohibition of driving (road closure) during the working hours stated above to allow safe working for our operatives. During this time traffic will be diverted utilising the same route as highlighted above.

Access to properties and businesses in the working zones will be maintained where possible but may be restricted for certain periods as the work progresses. Property owners who are directly affected have received a letter outlining the scope of the work and timescales involved. Information boards have been erected on site advising road users of the programmed work.

Consultation with ASDA and the Fire Station  is ongoing and liaison will be maintained throughout both schemes.  Bus service providers have been notified where their transport route is affected.
