An update.

It seems that I have been given " Duff Gen".

I got in touch with the Town Hall and the gentleman " Ron"
explained to me that the criteria is:

You have no parking facility or live in a flat AND you are adjacent to a municipal car park

This does not apply to me even though I don't have a parking facility

Its tough luck for me!

Free Parking in Marple.

A Friend told me  last evening, that residents of Marple could have free parking on the municipal car parks and that all was required was proof of residence and site of vehicle registration documents.

I have never hared of this, he told me that further information was available at the library.

I will make the necessary enquiries, but I wondered if any one else knows of this

I think that the parking in Marple is exceptionally cheap amd very good value.

Occasionally prices of goods and services do have to go up.  Isn't that inflation?

Further more, with the Parking attendants now being responsible for all the yellow lines in Marple, it means that a lot of short stay on-street parking will become available for all those shoppers who are just popping into Marple for a short time.

Alan, if the drains on your street are blocked, have you reported them to the council?  And what street is it?

Whilst walking through Chadwick St car park this morning, I read a notice attached to the payment machine advising of the proposed increase in charges for Stockport in General and Marple in Particular.

Is it any wonder that shoppers will go out of town to places like the Trafford Centre and the Adjacent ASDA? Extra cost of fuel is absorbed in the pleasure of having a full day out, coupled with the availability of entertainment and restaurants.

It would be interesting to know just how much is spent on wages and costs for staff who collect the money daily from the machines and what difference it would make to our council tax.

I received my council tax bill this week£1112.84 for a small terraced house. I do not feel that I get value for money from Stockport, The road that I live on, I have never seen swept, the drains are blocked on a regular basis, I don't have a garage or driveway and there is very little parking space available.

I would be content to pay a reasonable voluntary annual fee
that would provide me with a one hour free parking concession
on any Stockport MCC car park or parking area (subject to time limits).
