Heartbeat Chorus win Gold at national contest in Nottingham
« Reply #1 on: May 10, 2015, 10:35:33 AM »
Marple-based ladies barbershop singers, Heartbeat Chorus, achieved fantastic success this weekend at the annual Sweet Adelines International Region 31 convention in Nottingham. The 65 ladies, under the direction of Nancy Kelsall, took to the stage in a high scoring, closely fought contest against choruses from across the UK and Netherlands. Heartbeat were delighted to win with their moving rendition of "What'll I Do," followed by the sassy "Cabaret" reducing their audience to tears before treating them to a sizzling, sultry fiesta of fun.  Thanks to their fantastic choreography team, led by Sandra Lea-Riley, Heartbeat were also awarded the trophy for for best Showmanship.  Their success qualifies them to represent Marple and the UK by competing at the International Finals in Las Vegas in October 2017 against choruses from across the USA, Canada, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand. Watch this space for details of the fundraising events to support Heartbeat on the road to Las Vegas.
