Perhaps we will see a female priest or imam in Stockport?
Lady Vicar at Mellor Church. She does a very good funeral.

Congratulations to Ms Lamb, not just for becoming a bishop, but also for making some of us aware that Stockport has a bishop! (Who knew?)  :)

You might even get to meet "local lass" Lisa Smart who is, of course, one of their Directors!

Marplerambler, have you thought about offering your services to the Stockport Credit Union?

May I wish her the very best of luck.

While we are on matters C of E, the super idea from the Archbishop of Canterbury was the Church involving itself in helping people escape the clutches of pay day loan companies.  I emailed and offered my services for free and received details of a very professional and slick website but I just couldn't find any example of anything happening up North.

Has this idea actually come into practice yet?

The best way to avoid Payday loans is to not fill in the application form and then, should they offer a loan, then refust the offer. there is no gun to head here.

The fact the Op's news is news shows just how out of touch the church is.
