Well, unless it's a practical joke the notice states that it is a Temporary Closure Order from Stockport MBC, dated 10 December. I'll try and attach a picture, but not sure if this will work [it didn't!].

Can't find anything on the C&RT site. They have a page for notices here: https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices

If it's to be closed on 5th January it ought to be on here by now.

There are signs at both ends suggesting that the Peak Forest canal towpath will be closed between Strines and Brickbridge Road in Marple from 5th January for a period of (up to) 6 months. The diversion appears to be simply the pavement along Strines Rd.

Does anyone know if this is correct? It's a really well-used leisure route.
