Just in case anyone is interested (maybe only Lily) we successfully installed the skate-stops to the flowerbed yesterday.

I resolved the hot bags problem by buying 6kgs of wheat from Purrfect Pets at £4.50 and 10 microwave bags from the Pound Shop for £2.

So for a total cost of 65p each managed to make 10 bags.

Now that they've been used for the job we'll probably feed the birds for a good while through the winter  :)

Below is a shot of them in use and also the finished skate-stops installed.

We need one of the copings to be refixed as it has been knocked loose by skaters. Anyone any ideas about how to get it done for free!

Brilliant intuition . Well done .

If you haven't already solved the coping stone problem, maybe a nice word with the contractors working on the lodge/bandroom might be a good idea.  ;)

Thank you Lily.

We are going to be fitting skate-stops to the Diamond Jubilee Bed outside the library.

They will be fixed with two-part epoxy resin, which cures much better when warm, ideally above 20C.

So I want to lay the hot wheat bags (or something) over them to keep them warmed up for a few hours.

The hot air idea would work with one but would be difficult with the number we have to install.

Has anyone got the odd wheat bag lying around that they don't want?

Well, this certainly sounds interesting!!!!

Is is something that needs to be kept warm (hence the hotties or wheaties)?.

Or could you perhaps 'play' a hair dryer or hot air gun over them until they become warm. Then wrap in an old blanket (or old electric blanket).

Good luck with your task.

Help - I need a cheap way of warming up some metal inserts in stone.

Micro-waveable wheat bags would probably do the trick, or maybe hot-water bottles.

But I need it to be cheap and I need 5 or 6 - so maybe second hand or no longer usable domestically.

Anyone got any bright ideas where I can get some from quickly (like today)?
